Our Purpose
At Glen Burnie Evangelical Presbyterian Church we exist to spread a passion for the glory and enjoyment of God to all peoples.
Our Mission
We fulfill our purpose by seeking to follow the mission God has given to us. We believe that God has given us the following threefold mission:
- To reach those outside the Body of Christ
- To Build the Body of Christ
- To send believers into the world for Christ.
You will notice three main themes in this mission statement. The first is the supremacy of Jesus Christ—we want to point people to Christ, not to men, not to a denomination or any other human institution.
Secondly, we are also church based. Because of our devotion to Christ we love what He loved and He loved the church, which He called His bride, enough to die for her. We’re not a perfect bride by any means and we promise that you will find lots of flaws when you get to know us. But we are striving to be a faithful bride. And we are striving to be the kind of church where anyone of any age, gender, race or nationality can find a home.
Third, we are outwardly focused. Although we will always do our best to meet the needs of our members, that is not our primary goal. Jesus said that we are to be salt and light in the world, so we are striving to equip and send our members back into the world as servants who bring the “grace-full” influences of the Christian faith to bear on a hurting world.
Our Vision
As we fulfill our purpose by following our mission there are certain results we hope to see. These results are detailed in our vision statement, which describes the kind of church we hope to become.
We hope to be:
- A covenant community permeated with grace
- that engages the culture in ever widening circles
- and unites people in our passion for:
- The supremacy of Christ
- Submission to the Word of God
- A Reformed Worldview
